Looks like my notes are well and truly lost - its only for like 3 days but 3 days some time ago is slightly annoying...

Anyway lets give it a shot -
Christian, Niels, James and I all got up for the bus to the Cameron Highlands - its a long trip - about 6 hours or so - half of which takes you across to the centre of Malaysia and the other half takes you up the long and winding roads up to the Highlands resort.

This is not a resort in the same way the Genting Highlands was a resort - there are no rollercoasters, Japanese Tea Gardens, "French" people or anything else of that kind - its a small town with walks into the jungle and Tea plantations to visit.

We arrived in the early afternoon and headed for the Twin Pines hostel which had been recommended to us by Jimmy and Amy at Love Lane

after grabbing a bite and taking advantage of the hot showers (a novelty by now) we met up with Julia and started chatting with a couple of guys at the hostel
We were drinking Thai Song which is a malaysian copy of the Thai San Song. This is a whisky (or Rum - its debatable) brewed with support from the Thai government - its supposed to have small amounts of amphetamines in it - although the Thai song does not
good stuff though anyway

Rick was one guy at the hostel - a middle aged Saffa with a broken hip he had managed to break at another hostel up in the highlands on a slippery floor - he told us a tale of woe about how he had been stuck up there for several weeks - including a rather long stay at a hospital in Ipoh - not only that but the hostel had ripped him off for several hundred Ringgit - taking it out of a security bag he had left with them - dont go to Daniels Lodge

Also Gary a complete pisshead who had been living in Thailand for several years but who was white as a sheet - told us about his habit for blacking out which he did later..
Ill continue this later
