Oooh - the blogger site has changed.. quite freaked me out - not that it should worry you..

While i remember there is a feature where people can add 'Comments' to a blog by becoming member or sommut - so if anybody wants to get involved and add stuff to this thing here then send me an email and ill try and sort it out

So when i left you last I was on a night bus - the bus was ok - decent reclining seats - but the air con was a little over the top - i thought i was going to freeze to death

anyway i arrived ready to warm up at kuala perlis at about 5AM - still dark - and took a short walk to the jetty to wait for the ferry.
this arrived and it was a short 45 min journey across to the island
once i got there i took a taxi to pantai cenang which is where most of the budget accomodation on Langkawi is based - which is fine cos its by a very nice beach.
The first place i stayed in was ok but a bit expensive and i decided to look for somewhere cheaper - id arranged the langapuri 'resort' at the jetty rather than wander about with my rucksack so i was able to check out other places unencumbered.
I decided on a place called the grand beach motel which was on the south end of the beach - very basic chalets but right on the beach and with several loungers in the shade in front.

im not going to go into too much detail about the 3 or 4 days i stayed in langkawi cos most of it was spent lounging on the beach and swimming in the sea - the weather was a bit changeable cos its near the end of the rainy season - basically it was either pissing it down or very hot
when it was raining i decided to visit the couple of attractions Cenang has to offer namely Underwater World and the Rice museum.
Underwater world was basically a series of quality fish tanks with all manner of tropical fish - colorful and some enormous, corals, and turtles pretty cool all in all.
The rice museum was set amongst still used padi fields and showed the way rice is cultivated - in the past and now - quite interesting suprisingly - and dry
The food wasnt a lot to write home about - i went to an amazingly un-irish Irish pub which was interesting and the only other thing of note was making an idiot out of myself attempting to eat a crab at a seafood restaurant - when i was handed a nutcracker type thing i was a bit concerned- i think i got most of the meat out but it was extremely messy...

so mainly i sat on the beach reading my book and listening to my mp3 player which was very relaxing if a little dull after a while - it was livened up by the Red Arrows flying overhead in practice for the Langkawi airshow which is due to start this week - oh and the sunsets were pretty fantastic as well

Right so im nearly up to date now - Penang was my next stop and ill tell you about that later - im smarting a little cos i went to see Leicester v Man U which was on live here last night - and we got pummeled - still at least Frank Sinclair scored in the right end
